Last sentence of the article:
"Biggs' father, Kenneth Biggs, said he figured his daughter didn't tell relatives of her pregnancy because she was afraid of their reaction. None of that matters now, he said.
"We are definitely welcoming this baby with open arms," he said."[....and a large chunk of money for the rights for the made for tv movie]

Obviously there are lots of issues with this family (hiding a pregnancy, etc)--but the insensitive side of me says WHAT THE HECK were you doing driving yourself to the hospital!!!??

My sister drove herself to the hospital. She had about a week left and was standing in line for stamps at the post office when her water broke. She quietly ducked out of line and got in the car and drove to the hospital (where her husband met her of course!). She always acted like the whole thing was no big deal :)
