Melissa's Nesting Instincts are Famous!

What seems like ages ago a few Tales girls got interviewed for a NY Times article on nesting.

The story is running today and features our very own Melissa and her sad tale of a nursery paint job gone terribly wrong (see page 2). Well okay, it wasn't that bad, but you know how emotional you can get while pregnant and nesting!

Go check it out!

  • Thanks for the link to the article!

I still can't believe that one of the interior designers said she encourages new moms to put levers instead of turn knobs on the doors, though. Has she never been around toddlers?! You can still turn a doorknob with one hand, and your 18mo can't open it and start dunking toys in the toilet, etc. Doorknobs all the way.

  • That is awesome. I love the story Melissa!

And I agree with Vada, too, about the knobs.

Yes, the nesting instinct is real! I have been feeling it hard-core lately. I think I'm driving DH nuts.

  • Vada - I think something got mixed up re the levers vs knobs. I mentioned in my interview that I got the advice to do knobs and told her that after having a toddler it was some of the best advice I got! I agree - can't imagine how levers would be better.

Nesting...so many fun things to go through as a pregnant woman!

  • I'm nesting too...but I'm not exactly sure what I'm growing cause I'm definitely not pregnant! Today I reorganized all of our storage spaces and reconfigured the boys room, painted the stairway and then cleaned the house from top to bottom. That is so NOT me.

The article is very cool.... congrats Melissa!

  • Tell me about it!

I remember cursing at my husband because I'd asked him to paint the trim and he didn't seal the tape well enough so the paint seeped through. And then I cried.

  • Great article!

I am SOO nesting right now. When I nest, I decorate. SO that's why I've been painting a mural in our bedroom- my DH says he thinks I am trying to get it where I want it so when I go on bedrest (usually for the last month) and am stuck in there 24/7 I will not hate it.

I just want to make/sew window treatments and baby bedding, finish all the unfished projects, and basically be obsessive compulsive about how our house is.

Luckily for me my DH is understanding and tries to help me finish all these crazy projects.

  • I nest like crazy too. Sometimes I joke that I have to get pregnant in order to get anything done. It's funny cause it's true. It's sad because it's true.

So cool about the NY Times! Congrats!

  • My hubby and I are getting ready to adopt. We are going to adopt older kids (age 4-10)and even I have been nesting! I have made 2 quilts and am on the 3rd for 2008. I am sewing like crazy, cleaning like a made woman and grocery shopping for a crowd. All kind of silly because we don't even have a clue about dates/ages/sex, but I am doing it anyway!
