Kages Favorite Things

Welcom to Kage's favorite things. As an audience member to our Tales Show, you will receive EVERY one of my favorite things today, in a new browser window for your viewing pleasure, but only if you click on the link. If I was Oprah, you would be getting them hand-delivered by my elves.

I know the shopping season has officially begun, so here are a few ideas for you. All of these gifts make great stocking stuffers, or just small gifts of friendship and love:

Goplay Magnetic Games are so brilliant, I would have LOVED these on those long trips as a kid.

My favorite body wash on the planet is this from Bath and Body Works, in the scent of orange ginger.

Black and Decker Pest Repeller
. Ever since I got this to get rid of my mouse, I have noticed less uninvited bugs in my apartment.

Caldrea Stainless Steel Spray If you have stainless steel appliances, this spray will not only clean them, but give you a nice aromatherapy experience, again, I am a fan of the citrus scent.

Williams-Sonoma Dish Soap and Brush. I know it might seem weird, but this is a great gift because EVERYONE has dishes to do, and NOBODY treats themselves to a great dish-washing experience, unless they're rich, and then they probably have someone else doing the dishes.

Lazy Spoon I can't wait to get my hands on this spoon, I think it looks like an amazing invention, and Rachel Ray thinks so too, so I must be right.

Kiehls Deluxe Hand & Body Lotion. The only scent I have tried is GRAPEFRUIT and I love it...it is soooooooooo sexy.

Ulta Nail Lacquer is the best nail polish EVER. I can put it on and it will NOT peel for probably 4 solid days, sometimes stretched to 6...and this is a woman with 2 kids, who washes her hands a lot. I LOVE this stuff.

Carrie gave me these for Poopy's birth, and I got SO many compliments on them, and I loved them, and so I gave them to my sister's baby too. Carrie gave me the bright maryjanes, but all of them are super cute.

Spongy Feet. My new fave baby gift for anyone having a baby, are these blankies. My most favorite one that I gave was a vintage baseball print for some die-hard Cubs fans. That print is not on the site, but you can email the administrator and they will give you some limited edition options for that extra-special customization.

Persian Pickle Club. For the reader on your list, this book is a brief 196 pages, and one of the best endings a book has ever had.

Photobooks. I give these to all the grandparents every year because they already have everything, and I want to share a piece of my family with them. I collect my fave photos throughout the year and then narrow it down to the best of the best and put them in a 20 page hardcover album. For every duplicate, you get 20 percent off.

  • I'm sure this isn't cool to post this comment on here, but I didn't know how else to reach Brandolyn. I wanted to contact her regarding the hypnobirthing tapes she listened to. . . I want to know where I can get a hold of them. So if read this Brandolyn could you let me know or post a comment on my blog so I can get a hold of you?

    Thanks!

  • I'll post something for you kage!

Great ideas! I love the book already and I'm thinking of buying it for myself...

  • Thanks for the ideas Kage. I'm hoping that others will chime in as to some of their favorite gift ideas, too. This time of year I always start to look for that "perfect" gift for people (mom, sister, husband, etc.) and I usually end up spending a chunk of money buying something that I'm not super excited about. Any more ideas out there? What are your favorites, too?

  • I'll chime in :) (im bored at work anyway...)

Im a photographer, so all year I take pictures that I think would make nice decor, or are of peoples kids etc. I make nice prints and frame them in a way that compliments the picture. They make the easiest gifts and you can always find really nice gallery frames for cheap this time of year (at micheals, aarons, target etc.) Plus, its personal cause its one of my images (which I charge quite a bit for). Obviously, Im very partial to any kind of photo gift :)

For quick/easy gifts I love gift cards (especially when you have like a billion people your getting gifts for). My favorite are barnes and noble and Itunes, or amazon.com. You can just do five or ten dollars in these and its actually got value. I know I love downloading music and finding a new book to read. To personalize I'll make a cute list of my favorite songs or I will give them a book tote with the card. I also loves starbucks cards with a good stainless travel mug or bag of biscotti.

Another one of my favorite gifts, as a foodie, is to give one of my favorite recipes with a cool tool or dish - like pad thai with a wok and bamboo spatula, Or a collection of virgin drink recipes with cool margarita glasses (or blender if I want to spend more).

I also love teavana.com (there are lots of other places like them too, there is usually one in the mall). I think really good quality herbal tea makes a good gift also. Put it with a cool tea set or nice kettle or iced tea pitcher and it rocks.

My favorite of all though, are scented oils from body shop (they have good ones at bath and bodyworks too). You can get home burners, car burners, etc. Satsuma and cranberry are my favorite, but there is not a single one I don't love. They have cute gift sets at body shop. And they fill up a room way better than any candle I have tried.

Another one of my favorites (I would link but can't seem to get it right) are the polarvide throw blankets from ikea. They are only 3.99 but are super cute (and I can't seem to have enough blankets in our tv room so...). They also have the felicia throw which are only 9 bucks. They both come in alot of different colors. I also tend to group these with a set of mugs and some cocoa mix or something.

And finally, I love 'local' gifts. Living in seattle currently I am sending out alot of smoked salmon and starbucks this year, and when I lived in Texas I would send my favorite salsas and bbq sauces. I have a friend in Portland who sends out Bobs Red Mill stuff (which in another one of my favorite things).
